The Reading of the Names – Sponsored by:
The Sacramento Chapter of the Vietnam Veterans of America

In a moving ceremony on May 25th, 2003, Patricia Behan Armstrong and
Norma Nicol Hamilton represented AWON at the fourth annual Reading
of the Names at the California Vietnam Veterans' Memorial, Capitol Park,
Sacramento. Each page contains about 50 names. The veterans' full name
and rank is read, followed by the branch of service and home town in California.
At the end of each page the words "Welcome Home" are spoken and the page
is turned. There are 5,288 names and the reading starts at 7:00 A.M.
This year the ceremony concluded by flashlight at 9:45 P.M.
