Dear Mrs JONES,
Thank you for your interest about my Historical researches on aircrafts M.I.A. over FRANCE during the WWII.
Some biographical informations about me; I'm 40 years old, married with Florence, an Historian; specialised
in people's opinion and propagand in FRANCE during the WWII.
We have a baby; Marc-Andreas, 6 months old. We live in MONDOUBLEAU, a small town situate between LE MANS,
CHATEAUDUN and VENDOME. I teach History and geography in the local College.
My interest for WWII began when I was child; my grandparents lived in NORMANDY,in the SEINE valley and were
witness of a part of the battle for NORMANDY. They gave me a real passion for this historical period. This
common interest drive my wife and me to help the Resistance Museum from BLOIS where we are both member of the
administration council.
This museum present an exhibition about the origin of the WWII,the French defeat in 1940 and the last battle
in the LOIRE valley, the destructions of BLOIS and VENDOME by germans air attacks, the beginning of the French
Resistance with the help from Allied forces (SOE, OSS...) and finally the Liberation of the LOIRE valley with
the help of the PATTON's Army.
The museum collect all documents, informations and relics from this period. We must too transmit "the Spirit of
Resistance again the Faschism" to new generations and keep the memory of all Frenchs and Allieds who gave their
life for The Liberty.
Informations about my Data-base: For building it, I collect informations in archives from U.S., British, French
and German Air Forces to identifie all military aircrafts declared M.I.A. over FRANCE between September 1939
and May 1945. Now I try to find informations in local archives (Police, Gendarmerie, Defence passive, local
authorities) and witnesses of these crashes. The Data-base collect the place of the crash (Region,
Departement, Commune and lieu-dit), the moment (Date and hour) the plane (type, code, serial number, name
and unit) the crew, the mission of the plane, and informations about the circumstance of the crash and
eventually information about the crew after the crash (these informations essentially from witnesses and
local archives).
Sincerely your's
Marc DOUCET
