On March 16, 2002, 9 AWONers and 3 spouses met at The Holiday Inn near
Harrisburg. Most of us were from PA, but we were lucky enough to draw Norm
Burkey from Baltimore and Jim Miller from Detroit! It was the first time
meeting and sharing with other war orphans for several members! Sound familiar?

After a nice luncheon and a meaningful sharing time, some of us
went to nearby Ft. Indiantown Gap to the small, but interesting museum
housed in one of the original barracks of 1941. We also saw the recently
dedicated (Oct. 2001) War Memorial located at the national cemetery. This
is a huge and impressive structure, resembling a bombed out building with
attractive plantings, benches and memorial plaques throughout. It was great
to meet new people and share our common bond!

Thanks to Maggie Stein Fenstermacher for sending in the photo, & to
Gail Brown for scanning it & sending it from the STAR.
