Memorial Day 2007 – at Fort Rosecrans – San Diego, CA
The AWON basket of flowers provided by Barbara Torrey Smith, whose father,
USN Cmdr Philip Huston Torrey Jr,. rests at Ft. Rosecrans.
Barbara’s persistence resulted in AWON being officially recognized for the first time with front row reserved seats -- right beside the seats designated for Gold Star Mother and Wives.
The ceremony was late getting started so all were treated to an extended concert by the Marine Band.
So many beautiful tributes.
This year, seven San Diegans attended the memorial ceremony.
