This letter is written to voice my support for the construction of the World War II Memorial on the
National Mall. I attended the ground-breaking ceremonies last November, and I think the site is most
appropriate.
So many have worked to make the memorial a reality. I imagine there are many reasons why they have done so;
at first thought, I would say I have done so for my father. My father was a month shy of 20 when he was killed
in combat. But my reasons are deeper than a first thought. I want the memorial built, and built in this special
prominent place, so that all future generations will understand the significance of the gift from the World War II
generation: an opportunity to continue our pursuit of liberty.
