A defining moment
at the National Conference in Washington, D.C.

Tom Ratliff hands Senator Bob Dole a check – the largest single donation
(of many) from AWON, representing shared royalties from Tom's book:
"I Can Hear the Guns Now" – about his Father, PVT Ova Wendell Ratliff,
110th Infantry, 28th Division, Company C, who was Killed in Action
14 Nov 44 near Vossenack, Germany. In Tom's words:

"This donation is being made to honor the love my father and mother
had for each other, and the sacrifices they both made for our country."
