August 24-26, 2006

Sharon and Roger Connor traveled to Bellevue, WA, a Seattle suburb, for her father's 307th Bomb Group (the Long Rangers) reunion. Coincidentally, she met for the first time with Pat Ranfranz, the man whom she would join three weeks later for the trip to Yap Island where she would hold a long-overdue memorial service for her father. Pat was a presenter the first night of the reunion and was there to speak about his research into the fate of the 33 crews that crashed near Yap Island.

See for more information.

As a result of Pat's opening-night presentation, Sharon quickly met three sons,
one daughter, one brother and one widow of men who never returned
from their duty as Long Rangers in the Pacific.

As a bonus, they met with AWON Board member Barry Barr-Finch, who treated them
to a tour of the Emerald City. Barry is Seattle-born and conducts tours of the city.

Later that day AWON member Judy Hollis Kramer ferried over from her home in Bremerton, and the four of them had long lunch with much conversation at Ivar's, a Seattle seafood landmark.
